Electrical issue

Hello everyone. I'm new here and in need of some help, I tried looking around in the 7th gen sub forums but couldn't find anything like I'm experiencing. I'm sorry if it ends up being a solved issue and I may have missed it. I drive a 2002 Honda Civic EX 5 speed with the 1.7l. It's a two door if that makes a difference. Yesterday I left a buddies house and all has been perfect with my car until now. I was driving straight down the road and all the sudden my left blinker came on on it's own. It continued to go on and off and sometimes stay on all by itself for roughly 5 minutes. Then it went away along with the lights on my dash ac controls etc, and my gauge lights, and my running lights. They only come on if the blinker is on, and only the left one. My head lights work, and my brake lights work, but no gauge lights, dash lights, or running lights like my tail lights, unless the left blinker is on. I'm no electrician and I'm stumped.

Re: Electrical issue

Update to my issue. I went and drove my car just now to run to the car wash. However, now my blinkers do not work at all. Nothing on the dash, and they do not come on outside of the car either, running lights still off, head lights and break lights still work. Maybe a relay of some sort?

Re: Electrical issue

Hmm.. could be the turn signal relay. Let's hope it's not something shorting out to cause a spurious activation of the turn signal. I know some 7thgens had a recall of sorts on the headlight stalk, but it was really bc of the high beams, not anything else, really.

Turn signal relay is in the cabin fuse box. It's not fun to remove. Kind of a pain in the ***, tbh. There's a drop in replacement that you can pick up at autozone for cheap, but comes with 2... changes.. could be good or bad, depending on your tastes. 1) Flash rate is 80 blinks/min as opposed to the factory 60 and 2) you lose the hyperflash warning if a bulb is out. People swap this one in when they wanna run LED turn signals but don't want that rice flash. It's the Triton EP34, IIRC. It drops right in, but slightly smaller than the OEM. I personally had zero issues with that particular relay.
