2002 civic - shift solenoid valve A and B replacement

Need to clean the filter screens on solenoid to resolve a shifting issue. Problem started after doing a drain and fill. I assume debris is clogging the filter screens.

Where is this located on a 2002 Honda civic

Please assist.

Deep inside the tranny, pretty much complete disassembly required and might as well replace the clutch packs and install replacement filter that’s bigger while your in there.

It's not inside the tranny. Rather it's mounted externally. Dealer gave a diagram but it's not clear.

After fluid change if shifting between certain gears is rough, then most probably it's a clogged filter screen on the shift solenoid valve. My issue is between 1st and 2nd gears.

Re: 2002 civic - shift solenoid valve A and B replacement

Found it.

it's located at bottom left side of transmission. There are three bolts, two of them can be accessed from under car, but third bolt to remove have to take out the the solenoid assembly in front (Solenoid Assembly, Linear - Honda (28250-PLX-305).

Part (shift solenoid valve A and B): Solenoid Assembly, Shift - Honda (28200-PLX-003)

But there is also an internal transmission filter that can clog with debris as well. If that happens, then you will need to open the transmission case to access and advice is to install the larger ATF filter in the 2004 and 2005 transmissions and rebuild the trans at same time.
