EX vs SE vs Si?

This question is regarding the Cdn market - which I believe differs within trim levels with U.S. cars.

I think the SE is based off the DX which is the bare bones, basic model? I think the American SE is EX SE or LX SE which is close to the EX.

I'm asking because I am curious about the increase in hp regarding the trim levels.

I was looking at 7th gen. Civics for a future buy but want to only consider 127hp models. So, that means either EX or Si? It's difficult to find them for the price range. I fear the Special Edition (SE) is 115hp as it replaced the DX?

Any thoughts? Advice?

I was also looking at an Acura EL (2001 - 2005 models).

I owned a 1990 Honda Civic years ago and it was around 106hp(?) and I thought it wasn't enough for me. It was okay, though, for what it was used for. But, I'd like to at least get something 120-130hp.

What do you think?

The 1.8L 2006 and newer cars are much more powerful than the 2001-2005 cars if power is what you really want. Of course newer means more money.

unfamiliar with the SE canadian, so will not speak about it.

Remember that the 7 th gen are considerably heavier than earlier models - the gains in power/torque will be lost on weight it need to pull. Also, lost the great suspension.

When I search my VIN on this site, it tells me I have an '01 EX .. doesn't recognize Canadians. I blame Trump haha
