Looking for advice on how to increase power+looks of 2005 civic dx sedan
Just got a grey 4 door civic a while ago. It's the se model (equivalent to dx I'm pretty sure), looking for ways to give it some more hp/acceleration speed. Not too expensive. I don't have the money or knowledge for turbo. Basically no mechanical experience so I'll need explanations for what to add and what they do, along with how to do it. Also looking for ideas on how to make it look sportier?

Engine performance: Intake/header/exhaust/stage 1 cam
EDIT: You can also swap the head with a D17A2 to get VTEC.
Looks: Spoiler, lower the suspension, rims, headlight retrofit, new body kit, many, many more options.

Well, all of it would run you a pretty penny. Individually, they're not THAT expensive. It's better to replace parts one at a time anyway.
Intake/header (exhaust manifold)/exhaust: Changing each part improves the flow of air into your engine, out of it, and away from your car, respectively. Power gains are minimal, but parts are cheap(ish) and it's easy to do. There's plenty of information here if you look for it: https://www.civicforums.com/forums/2...ne-performance
Head swap: Swapping the upper part of your cylinder block with that of an EX (along with a few other mods and new computer) will let you use VTEC, which effectively increases your horsepower by 10 or so. I haven't done it (I already have an EX) so use the Google!
Camshaft: You can upgrade your camshaft so that it allows more air/fuel into the cylinder. It's ONLY for VTEC engines though. http://www.crower.com/camshafts.html?cat=1533
