It is suppose to work well for protecting against salt and water. Some of the Canada guys do it to there aftermarket suspension parts they buy.

It depends on what you want to do. I don't see where coating new aftermarket parts would be a problem but I would not use it or anything else as a general undercoating for the entire car. Back when rust proofing was big most of the companies that did it would not touch a car that was more than six months old, especially in a climate where salt was used. Once rust has started any coating is only going to seal it in and it will continue.

It would be best to only use it on new parts since you then would not have to worry about that. Most high quality parts will hold up well against the elements.
