Completely clogged? You'd have to be ignoring the P0401 and/or misfire codes for an awful long time.
Actually no IMO. The EGR is not related to head gasket failures on this engine. 7th gen head gaskets fail all the time with EGR still working great.
It's actually quite rare for me to see EGR problems on these, and it typically develops misfire codes when they do have an EGR problem. (My observations.)

So do any of the posters here have a 7th gen thats had a HG failure, that fixed it with whatever fix, and it lasted longer than the original factory HG lasted?
I'd like to think I'd keep my Civic past three more years before getting something a lot newer (or dog forbid, new)... but mostly it's to increase its shrinking value to another used car buyer down the road. That's partially why I've limited my budget on mods to value-added (read: staying mostly stock).
