Headlights

So I got some Silverstar Ultra's last year and loved how they lit up BUT they went out only a year later! Any other recommendations for longer lasting ones? Trying to stay away from the dim, yellow ones and something more bright/white like those Ultra's.

Re: Headlights

The Silverlight Ultras will flat out tell you that they won't last long. OEM bulbs or direct OE replacement will last you MUCH longer than the silverstars. The filaments run too hot to achieve the brighter color and they die really fast. It usually says on the package whether they are designed for brightness or longevity. OE replacement bulbs will last you years. Nothing brighter besides an HID kit which costs hundreds of dollars will last longer.

Re: Headlights

So its a trade off. Get the brighter Silverstar Ultras but be aware that they'll die in a year or get some dimmer, OEM bulbs that will last twice as long. Are there any OEM that are just as bright as the Silverstar Ultras or will there be a noticeable difference?

Re: Headlights

Are OEM bulbs and OE the same thing? Where can I order them online?

Re: Headlights

OE is usually an aftermarket company that makes "Original Equipment" bulbs. They are usually similar to OEM but the quality is not as good. Just hit up a local dealer or buy them at a store. Pretty much any OE bulb will do I have aftermarkets on mine and they are going on about 3 years. I think even walmart might have them nowadays.
