What are some affordable engine swaps for a 2005 Honda Civic Si Sedan?
What are some affordable engine swaps for a 2005 Honda Civic Si Sedan?
I have a 2005 civic si 4 dr automatic tranny.
It is my first car and I bought it before I knew how to drive manual. Now I am dying for a manual tranny.
What are some possible engine swaps that I can do that will be affordable and also fun to play around with? Give me prices, mods, and any advice that you can think of.

Affordable? Good luck with that. Only remotely affordable would be a K20A2. Heres the link on how to swap it into your EP3 With an unlimited budget, you could do an LS1 swap if you wanted too. If I were you, I would focus on suspension mods for now. Coilovers, sway bars, and other goodies are always fun.

Canadian Si? K swap is the only way to go. 5-6k easily. Lots of info on the web you should research before jumping into it.

I'm guessing Canadian Si as well.
If you're talking about a K swap affordable, then you should look into lower K-Series engines.
Like the K20A3 from EP3, K24A4 Accord, K's from Element, CRV, etc. Still a K, still powerful than a D17.
They go cheaper then the K20A, K20A2 RSX, K24A2 TSX, and some, but these engines are what others look for and they can be pricey.

Hate to say but for the price of a swap ($7,000), you could buy a car that comes stock with a manual transmission and a more powerful engine that will still end up being faster than your K-swapped civic (without mods to the K).

Yea, you're gonna have to define "affordable"
hopping on the bandwagon here, but k-swap is the most "affordable," meaning it's the most straightforward swap without needing too much fabrication to do.

The only tranny you can swap in (i.e. the tranny mated with the D17A1) will elongate your gears, thus slightly slower acceleration.

And if I do go through with this swap, is there a way to bring or even surpass my current accelaration without any expensive mods to the engine?

I'm sorry, I completely missed the "automatic tranny" and "dying for a manual tranny" parts. I realized it by your other thread. I... I really can't read or write.. lol
In that case, yes, you can swap in an ex's manual tranny in there.

Give that a good read.

This....
not to mention after the swap you will have a much tougher time selling the car and will make it less valuable.
If you want a fast car buy an older vette or something with 8 cans insteada 4.
