Compression drop after timing belt change

Compression drop from 230 to 180 psi after timing belt change.
Timing looks OK
The car drives great. what could be the reason?

i would be willing to bet money your timing belt is off by one tooth

180psi is good, as long as its consistent through all 4 cylinders I wouldn't worry.

The first compression test could have been done wrong or a bad gauge, I don't recall ever hearing any compression tests over 190psi on these motors.
