Unhappy Code P0122

Driving today and my check engine light come on my 2003 Honda Civic 1.7 so I had a guy check it out and it read PO122 .. So he said that it might be the TPS Sensor so he took off the air cleaner the 3 bolt to the housing of the air cleaner but it wouldn't come off so he could get a better look at the sensor.. Is there a trick in getting it off or is there more than 3 bolts holding it on? He just sprayed some throttle body cleaner put everything back and seems to be running okay for now though I think that the problem will be back.. So is there a trip in getting the air cleaner housing off ..Thanks

Re: Code P0122

There's a screw clamp underneath the filter housing holding it to the gasket and throttlebody.

Look for smooth operation of the throttle cable and the throttle plate in the neck of the throttlebody.

If the scanner has a live data feature (reads real-time data from the sensors) the TPS should be right around 10% at fully closed and right around 90% at WOT (Wide Open Throttle).

Re: Code P0122

Yea. Best to get it from the drivers side.

Dont let anyone change anything without first verifying that it is bad.

Re: Code P0122

well i got a 2000 honda civic sedan and a po122 came out as i scanned with a obd 2 scanner. Its makes my vtec lagg and when the i put it in drive it jerks too. i seen the light before same code i would just delete it but this time it aint working ,turns right back on . I did a lil research it could the tps sensor , a open wire, or the ecu. I know how to change it i did already but i took it off and returned the tps to kragen. I talked to A guy from H auto he said just replace the whole throttle body . i need to find the exact problem before i do anything .I just hate driving without my VTEC and I love my honda.
Ok well the check engine turned off already and im glad but i know it will go off again in the future so til then i will wait then take it to import pros in garden grove CA to take care of that lil problem.

Re: Code P0122

Try cleaning the connector with isopropyl alcohol or electrical cleaner.

I had to re-calibrate my tps sensor and i also changed tps sensor gasket. I bought gasket paper from napa.

If that fail then you might have to change the tps sensor.

If you want to buy a new oem tps sensor contact this seller on ebay.

Re: Code P0122

I had the same P0122 (intermittent) problem and cleaning the throttle body with carb cleaner fixed the problem and it's been over 6 months now.
