Post D17A2 head swap for D17A1?

I currently have a d17a1, I've already purchased a d17a2 head but it came without the solenoid so I purchased one, it has 2 wires coming off of it. Where do they go? I have a vcon vtec controller, the valve cover and head gasket. I know I need a solenoid gasket and a new intake gasket. What else might I be needing and how tough is the job on a 1-10 scale? Also about those solenoid wires? Any info helps a lot! Also incase I got the wrong solenoid does anyone know of a good place to order one? I have an 05 civic sedan it's the dx value package.

There's actually a DIY on this somewhere on here, but I'm too lazy to find it for you :P although a quick search should come up with it. I believe one wire receives constant 12v, and the other is hooked up to the VTEC controller to its switched ground. That's the only wiring you need to worry about...everything else should just bolt up, you should already have everything you need.

There should be three wires, according to the pic on that auction. I was off by a little on that. The single wire coming off the solenoid itself goes to the ecu or vtec controller, and the other two wires, for the oil pressure switch, gets wired green to ecu, and black or whatever the other is to ground.

I got the solenoid today, it has a green, blue and a black wire coming off of it. I also wanted to know what wires off the vtec controller were for? There are 5, black, red, grey, green, and yellow.

Well I've never used that controller before; your best bet would be to look up a wiring diagram....but if I had to guess, I'd assume red is constant +12v, black is ground, grey goes to the blue wire on the solenoid, green to the green on the solenoid, and yellow to ignition/accessory power, but that's just a blind guess, based on general wiring standards.

Let me know if you find wiring instructions; I'm curious to see how accurate that is.

Red is power, black is ground, green is rpm signal, grey is solenoid input and yellow is solenoid output. If I have a 05 civic dx sedan where is my ecu located?

It would be located in the passenger side dashboard area. You would have to "unhook" your glove compartment to get to it. You only need a Philips screw driver to remove it.
