Looking to purchase a 7th gen Civic, need advice

Hello all,

I am currently in the market for a 7th gen civic. I've been looking all over autotrader and craigslist and have found one that seems to have met my needs. The one I am looking at has:

5 speed transmission

EX trim

2 doors

Clean autocheck, never been in an accident and has a 83 score

103,000 miles

3 owners :/

The dealerships wants $7,000 for it. Kbb says it should be around $9,300. I'm a newbie to Civics and have recently started looking into them for their reputation for reliability and great gas mileage (Around 31 city/38 highway right?). Any advice on whether or not I should go for it would really help out a lot! Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately it got bought, but I'll keep looking. I'd like to get a manual coupe EX model with that ballpark mileage. If I need anymore help I'll let you all know. Thanks!

Re: Looking to purchase a 7th gen Civic, need advice

Just bought an '05 LX auto 2 door with 51.6k miles on it for about 8.5k not incl. tax/title (~9.2k total), from a Honda franchise dealership about three weeks ago; it had two prior owners but a good carfax (maintained at dealer every 10k miles, probably a lease). I think I may have paid a tiny bit too much but on the other hand with that little mileage I think it would make up for the cost difference over the long run to not have to worry too much about repairs with proper maintenance, and it shaves 2-3 hours off my roundtrip workday commute (previously on public transit) which is $$.

Sidenote is my insurance is about $150/yr more expensive than it would be for a 4door, but MPG is a tiny bit better due to lower weight (first week I was driving pretty mildly (60-65mph) and the tank lasted forever). It's a little lower now though, seemingly due to my driving style and gas choice (got it from a sketchy place one time and I'd swear MPG dropped ~30% - will try running STP complete fuel system cleaner at 55k).

Yay first post.

I bought an 01 2dr EX 5 speed at 106000 for 5800 on craigslist. I had to wait for a while to find a good deal. Be patient and the car will come to you

Just got a Red 01 EX 2-Door MT 126k miles for 3600 - private party, nashville.

It needed a little work - axles, struts, and tires, but even with those I'm in for less than 5 and it rides like new.
