I'm planning on buying a 7th gen Civic soon and it needs some work. I've done some automotive work in the past, but have never needed to acquire a jack. Axle stands should be used along with a jack, correct?

Anyways, I need to buy these soon and would appreciate advice on what to get. I looked and found these:

That equipment looks good!
And YES, ALWAYS use jack stands in combination with a jack. NEVER trust your jack to hold the entire car when you're underneath, it could blowout and drop the car on your face.

It's good practice to jack your car up, slide the stands under a firm point, lower the car onto the stands slowly, and then reapply a bit of pressure to the jack and lift up again about 1/2".

Having 4 stands is also a good idea, so you don't have to work front to back and vise-versa, jacking it up several times...

I'm going to answer this as well because it's that important...

ALWAYS USE JACK STANDS. There, I said it. I feel better now.

But seriously, I know people who missed jack stand day in auto shop, and boy did they regret it. They're just lucky they weren't underneath the car when it fell. I've had to do work without stands before when I had a flat with my jeep, and that was one hair raising experience. The speed jack we were using didn't have enough surface area touching the ground, thus nearly dropping the car. Only thing holding it up was me using the jack as leverage under the body (thank god it was steel).

So yeah, just don't ever forget about those things.

Do you think that 15" height will be enough if I get the set from AutoZone?

What kind of work do you plan on doing? That's really going to determine how much clearance you need. My stands go up to about 16.5", which is more than enough for me. But, also depends on what kind of work you plan on doing. You probably won't need much more height, unless you have really long arms, and/or a bigger torso. Otherwise, should be alright for you.

I need to change the front shocks, timing belt and water pump (although I don't know if I'll need to jack it up for that), the brakes, possibly the bushings, ball joints, and tie rods, as well as doing oil changes.

15" is plenty as long as you don't mind laying on your back. Cardboard helps

You can do everything on your list without crawling underneath the car, yes even the oil change. You can even get by with just one jack stand if you do the shocks one side at a time.
