Replace Wheel Stud Question

on a 2001 civic, is it necessary to remove the wheel bearings to replace broken wheel studs? If so, will the bearings need to be replaced? This is what the mechanic is telling me and I'm doubting their honesty.

I have the same problem as you right now. The rear ones are easy to change and my mech did it in 5 minutes, but he says he'd need to take stuff apart for the front ones.

Yes. You will need to take off the hub in front to replace the studs

Not necessary, but advisable if you have a lot of miles. You have the hub(s) off already. Two birds, one stone. My $.02

It's strongly advisable to replace the wheel bearings. Not only do you likely have decent mileage on your bearings, but when hub is pressed out of the knuckle the bearing separates putting even further stress on it. Pay for the labour once, replace it.
