2003 Civic EX Overheating...still

I've been battling this overheating issue for almost 2 years. Every component in the heating and cooling system has been replaced...some at least 3 times (water pump, thermostat...) and I'm back at the same issue again. When I am idle it begins to overheat. And now that it's getting colder, when I turn the heat on, 1), it doesn't immediately warm up (tale, tale sign) and 2) that will cause it to overheat while I am driving. I'm not sure what else to do. Or what else it could be. I just spent nearly $1000 having the head gaskets replaced...One of the reasons I was adamant about getting a Honda was that I knew if took care it, it would take care of me...so far not seeing that! HELP!

Did you machine the head and torque everything by the book when doing the headgasket? If not, that is your problem.

Have the hydrocarbon levels in the radiator tested, to confirm whether it's the head gasket or not with complete certainty. The kit to do so can be rented at autozone.
