Hi All;
Some background...A/C Wasn't working for a while so thought I would get at it.. Condensor was bent quite badly prior to us buying the car so I thought it was the culprit and ordered and replaced it.. Upon removal of the old damaged one, there was still some Refrigerant in the lines to my surprise..Turns out it was still partly charged and although badly bent wasn't the apparent culprit. So I installed a new Consensor, Recharged the system with a DIY kit, still nothing.. I put the AC on and dont hear the Compressor cycling.. what do you suggest for next steps.. is there some way to test this w/o travelling to a dealership?

Your first problem was putting refrigerant in yourself win the DIY kit. Those kits are no good and only do harm to your system. The reason is you need to vacuum your lines so that there is not a single molecule of oxygen or nitrogen. After it is vacuumed, it needs to be pumped with the with 100% r134a. If there is any oxygen in the system, it will freeze and sieze up ur compressor. Not only that, you need to put the correct PSI (pressure) for the system. Using that gauge that is provided with the DIY kit is no accurate because it gives a generic range of PSI.*

And if you over charge you system AND have oxygen molecules in ur system... That will cause things to fail and create more problems yourself.*

If your don't have the vacuum tool, don't do it yourself. I learned the hard way and froze/seized up my compressor and resulted in a $1200 fix rather than letting a professional recused and clean my ac for $70

Oh yea, your ac system is a closed system. And any time you open it up to replace something (like a compressor or condenser) you need to change out the dryer. Very important.*

ok besides what i just said, you should check ur electrical plugs from the compressor (they control the engaging and disengaging of the compressor clutch)

holy moley, i didnt know that would cause harm, i figured it might be the easiest way to get it done.. guess not.. looks like a trip to the shop then at thae very least.. so you're saying the Dryer has to be changed when the system is opened up?
