Some questions before I buy a new civic
Some questions before I buy a new civic
Hey, I'm pretty much a noob with cars so I have some civic questions haha
1)Is the 7th gen Si only a hatchback or not? Since I've seen multiple postings for 2003/2004 Si coupes.
2)If it is only a hatchback, is the Ex basically the coupe/sedan alternative?
3) How loud are they generally? (From inside & outside)
4)Are 7th gens actually notorious for issues? or am I just seeing random negative comments?
Planning on buying my first car, so I'd really appreciate any help!

Re: Some questions before I buy a new civic
1. Canadian Si = US EX, which is the same
US Si = hatchback, which is the Canadian SiR
2. Yes, so is the LX
3. Typical honda noise, wind noise, light engine purring.

We have a ton of tiny little problems, but most dont really bother us
Main problem with this car, is the automatic transmissions. They tend to not last

Re: Some questions before I buy a new civic
Really it's just the 01 automatic transmissions that are horrible, the 02/03 are decent with regular fluid changes and the 04/05 don't have many issues at all it seems.
Keep in mind, a lot of people come here because they have a problem with their car and want help diagnosing it, so browsing our site might make 7th gens appear to have problems far more frequently than in reality. In 6 years of ownership I've never needed to make a repair outside of standard maintenance.

Actually, one more. How can you tell the differences between trims? I found one car claiming to be an Si, though it doesn't have the labeling on the back. Not sure what other details differentiate it from a lower trim.
