I was changing my pedals today and when i was done, i noticed something hanging down under a plastic piece.. then looked at it, and it looks like a little light, but i have NO clue for what, or why it is where it is.. here's a pic of it..



and the front of it..


if you know what it is, i'd appreciate it if anyone could explain.. or tell me what to do with it.. a lot of stuff looks loose under that plastic panel you take off under the steering wheel.. not sure how to fix it, but this im kinda stuck on..

I'm going off with a wild guess. It might be to an anti-theft device. My old Corolla had something like that. I went to touch it and it fell right out of the socket.

its just weird.. i mean my car has an alarm system, but that's just an odd place, tucked away and all.. never seen it before today..

I'm gonna say its part of the alarm system, if that's wat that is then that light is usaully on the left of the steering wheel on the dash but looks like someone just let it hang there or something.

should i move it? or does it matter? the cord is like 5 or 6 inches long, not long enough to put it up near the steering wheel.. just an odd spot, and this is the first time i have seen it. lol

My old car had one of those. It's basically a light that blinks just so you know the alarm is armed. It's not even important. I'd keep it hidden away cuz it serves no real purpose

looks like an aftermarket Alarm blinker that can be fitted into your dash so the light sticks out to blink and deter theives.

Give me your points first lol....as for the led, it's probably an alarm blinker like everyone else said. I would mount it somewhere visible to potential thieves, seeing as civics are one of the top stolen cars haha.

ill have to find something to mount it on with.. it looks like a piece is broken off or something.. im gonna check it out tomorrow and see what i can do with it. just odd if someone put that in, why is the cord so short? what you see in the pic is exactly how long it is.. and i dont know where they might have had it before me. oh well, ill figure somethin out

Looks like an aftermarket anti-theft LED blinker
The stock one is a black rectangle, with a blue LED & a Valet switch.

If you dont want it hangin around, u can just tuck it away somewhere.

Lol, exactly why i'd keep it hidden. The crappy looking blinker just shows the crappy quality of the alarm system so thieves know what to expect when breaking in

iy it's not stock it might be a vtec led.

the previous owner might have gotten sick of it and you havn't found the spot it used to be visable. do you have a vtec engine? does it light up when vtec is active?

yeah, my engine is vtec, but i dont know if it has ever lit up before.. i just saw this thing the other day when i was changing my pedals.. i gotta figure out where to mount it so i can tell or not.. ive never heard of a vtech LED. what exactly is that? i guess i could google it, but i figured someone here would know more about it than google. let me know when ya can, thanks in advance

in a stock 7th there is no vtec light. some people think it's cool to see an led light up when vtec is active.

the cam in your car has two profiles, the main one for getting around town is gas friendly. when you're at WOT (wide open throttle) the profile is electonically switched over by your vtec solinoid.

if you wire an led into the solinoid, when the car's ecu tells the vtec solinoid to cross over to the 127hp cam profile, the led will light up as well.

here's the solinoid, if you have what looks like extra wires going to it, then that's probably what it is.

im gonna take more pics tomorrow of it and where its coming from and see if u guys can tell me anything more about it. from what i know, there were 2 screws in the dash (that i took out bc they were just there) and im assuming this thing was hooked to em but was then tucked away. ill post em in here when i take em..

Ok, i took some more pics with my digital camera instead of my phone so you guys can see this thing better..

This is one is of the cord completely extended how far it will go.


This one is a pic of where i think this thing WAS before the car was mine. There were 2 screws exactly where this is sitting, so it had to be mounted exactly like this.

So i guess that's my pics for the day. For all of you helpin me, thanks for everything.. hope this helped a little to try and figure out what the heck this thing is. guess the next thing to do is just take it for a spin tonight and see if it lights up lol.. what rpm does vtec kick in? ill make sure to get it there
