Car Deck Suggestions

Hi, I currently have a sony deck (basic) that I installed 1 year back with new speakers, it sounds horrible, no bass (I've played with all the settings, etc)
The deck is the issue, and I'm looking to replace it, any suggestions regarding brands? Not going back to sony, and planning on speding $100-180 or so for the deck.

What are the top brands atm? thanks for any suggestions, I'll be looking at past threads to see what others have found.

Yep in that order, but I would put Kenwood directly under pioneer (though i still dislike the brand)

I'm rocking a Sony myself, planning to upgrade to another Sony when I scrape up some money

Here's a 2nd for Clarion. I've installed Clarion decks in my mom's car and also for a good friend of mine, and I'm very happy with them. I'm likely to put a Clarion deck to replace the factory HU in my '01 Civic.

I like the Clarion CZ401 if you are looking for a solid deck on a budget ($150 with dash kit and harness), and this is gonna be what I'm putting in my car: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ion-CZ401.html

CD Player with MP3/WMA, HD Radio tuner with iTunes tagging (and gets good reception, FM tuner has -8dBf sensitivity), front USB port (Direct iPod/iPhone, and also Direct USB Mass Storage support for USB flash drive or portable hard drive), front 3.5mm jack, 3 sets of 4V preamp outs, Parametric EQ, built in HPF/LPF, Remote Control Included. Also Sirius-ready with external tuner (+$65).

what kind of speakers do you have?
i would definitely go with an Alpine head unit.
a nice double Din one would be sweet.
but Alpine has great sound.
Sony Usually does, but other wise Pioneer would be a good call.

JVC is Garbage.

Re: Car Deck Suggestions

I have a pinoneer deck i put in around christmas, it was fairly expensive but the sound is great, and the look is super clean. It is a multi-media deck (therefore no CD's anymore!!!) great for usb, and ipod/iphone support. and has an sd card slot behind the controls.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/POC...vers/MVH-P8200

the only thing i dislike about my unit, is the fact that it is very hard to select things, its very hard to press the center button, takes atleats 2 fingers to support both sides of the circle. but i do like the deck a lot. anyway, thats just my case!

Re: Car Deck Suggestions

If you go pioneer, beware of motorized faces. I had to replace my flex cable ribbon deep inside the deck. I made a thread on here on it too. A combination of Texas heat and sunbathing contributed to that so keep in mind your environment if you get a motor face.
