2001 Honda Civic LX 4cyl.

Hello,
I am going to look at this car to buy. Can someone please tell me is there anything I need to look out for?
Is there anything particular this car has had issues with?
There is about 118k miles on it, the only thing the seller has replaced on it was the air conditioner condensor. Other then that just regular maintenance.

Thanks again for your help.

Re: 2001 Honda Civic LX 4cyl.

Timing belt needs to be replaced if it hasn't already been done. That will cost $500-1000. The 2001-2003 civics have had problems with the automatic transmissions. Be aware of the tranny and if it is slipping or not.

These are good and reliable cars if taken care of.

You know you own a 7thgen when... This link will provide a good idea of some common problems. Don't let them discourage you though. Many of the problems are just minor problems. For instance, 7th gens have a problem with the fuel door releace cable breaking and that leaves you unable to get the fuel door open to put gas in your tank. The fix is quick, cheap, and easy.

^ like this you got the humour of the thread and that it actually tells some of the common issues with a lot of laughs for us, users of the car.

To OP, instead of LX look for the EX, or you will soon back asking how to swap a vtec head.
Look for manual instead. Check the timing belt servicing.
