Re: here goes nothing.

I did this two weeks ago. Seems like it shifts a little bit smoother, but its not too noticeable. The only noticeable difference is when I'm going 35-40 mph and I let off the gas and get back on, it doesn't jerk anymore.

I don't know if this is slipping but can someone tell me if this is normal? As I accelerate from 30-40(45 ish)mph my rpm goes up then down then back up (AT within the same gear). Numbers are approximations, I don't remember actual numbers, bu this is what is happening.
30=2500 rpm
35=3000 rpm
35-37= 2800 rpm
37-40= 3000 rpm
40-45= 3200 rpm

And good luck. Keep us updated with your experience.

Re: here goes nothing.

did that happen before you added the new fluid ??? the only thing that scares me is the lower viscosity of the new fluid on my used trans. i will keep updates.

Re: here goes nothing.

That has been happening since I can remember. I got the car with 27000 miles. i have 63xxx now. It did get slightly better but not much. I am going to do another drain and refill at the next oil change.

More like that, except when the mustang stays at 4k rpm in second mine goes down 200 rpm or so, then back up. it only happens when I accelerate moderately. Not flooring it or granny driving, just normal acceleration.

Re: here goes nothing.

I thought the viscosity was higher in this newer formula. I read on the back it was but that was back in mid march I might be brain-farting.

I got the dw1 in my AT as well. I figure its a matter of when, not if....

Re: here goes nothing.

nah im reading it rite now it says ''lower viscosity for better gas mileage''. i do however have a single quart of old fluid i forgot i had so im going to use that with the new stuff then the next change go full synthetic.

I think you should have tossed the Z1 and gone with DW1 only , I've been going on thousands of miles with no negative change in shifting performance or transmission behavior (after two drain and fills, aka 70% DW1).

Here are my arguments (beliefs) in favor of DW1 being safe (same title, but two different posts):

Re: here goes nothing.

well i had one extra bottle left that couldn't be returned mixing them won't do anything i mean the fluid stuck in the converter is still the old stuff i just did one drain and fill not a complete flush. my next drain will be straight synthetic stuff.
