RPM at 100Kph (60MPH)
Hey i was just wondering ... i have an 03' civic si (american ex) and it's manual. When i'm going at like 80 in 5th gear my car's RPM is a bit higher than 2 ... but when i'm at 100kph (60 mph) my car is at like 3k rpm. Wanted to know if that was normal or if i should get it checked out...

Normal. The EX model has shorter gears to make it feel a little "Sportier". Which causes you to rev higher on the highway. I drive 125-130km/hr and mine revs at 4000 all the time. (yea I know, I have a heavy foot)

The gears are a little different on manual and lower trims
I know my AT EX can stay at about 3200 rpm going 80mi/h
If it's going all the way to 5k rpm you should be concerned, but doesn't seem like a problem atm

On a side note: His '07 Tahoe runs at about 2000rpm@ 60mph pulling a trailer with 2 yards of dirt and can get 20mpg@ 70mph on cruise in the mountains with 5 of use and our stuff piled to the ceiling in the back. Not to bad when you realize his vehicle is 3 times as big as ours.

Yeah, my dad freaked when he drove it one time and it was at 3000rpm@ 60mph in 5th gear. He called me up and said somethings wrong with the car and I was said OMG, WHAT IS IT! He told me that and I just laughed and told him it was normal and it will still get 30+mpg like that. .
