Re: Dummy Switch?

I'm not sure you know what a dummy switch is. A dummy switch is one that looks real but, doesn't actually do anything. If you want a real switch for your lights go down to the autoparts store and pickup a switch (they have tons), drill a hole in that switch plug, insert switch, wire it up and your done.

Re: Dummy Switch?

The dealer doesn't really carry parts for custom mods just OEM parts. If it's not part of your car from the factory you'll always need to go to an auto-parts store, electronics shop etc.

I've never seen a Civic with heated seats and I'm from Canada, plus my car has every single option the dealer had available and I don't have them. I'm pretty sure only the EL and RSX had heated seats.

Re: Dummy Switch?

i know ive seen a civic with heated seats. maybe it was a dealer addon like fogs. cause there are two spacers there for a reason. in the instructions it even mentions a heated heat button to fit next to the fog button.

Weird, because I have the dealers showroom model, so I have every option and in looking at many Civics I never saw one with heated seats or have I seen one listed as having heated seats.

I also can't find heated seats listed as a option through google or handaaccessories

im pretty sure it was an overseas civics, not usa/canada. they get a ton more cool stuff there including *power* folding mirrors. yes their mirror switch has an extra button you press and the mirror folds in and out by itself!

Re: Dummy Switch?

I'm sorry I didn't mean to use the incorrect term for the switch. So where can I get any switch that would fit in the hole. Maybe a fog light switch.the car is a sedan.

Thanks

Re: Dummy Switch?

iirc the switches used on the left side & the blank in the console are different size openings, and also rotated 90 degrees.

You may have to come up with your own switch for that location.

My family 6th gen civic has a power folding side mirrors. It does have some fancy stuff. but no SRS AIRBAGS.... it was not standard and not mandated by gov so it is so dangerous if something happens.

Re: Dummy Switch?

correct, the fog switch for sedan i believe fits in the middle console (smaller and sideways) whereas the coupe switch fits where the cruise and other left panel buttons are. i have both in front of me and got a coupe switch if i ever need an extra for something later. there is also a rear defrost button that fits to the left.

Re: Dummy Switch?

pull out that little cover piece before you buy a switch. It's a bit of a bitch to fit switches in there because of the clips they use to secure that little piece in. I had a tough time fitting a female USB plug to sit there nicely without carefully dremeling out the insides.

The $10 dremel I bought on sale is the most useful tool I've ever owned and I have a lot of tools lol.

I bought a few switches on ebay for $5 each that glow the same colour as my LEDs, but you can get regular ones for much less. Only thing is it takes a long time to receive them since the warehouses are all in asia.
