New to me 2002 Civic EX Sedan $1000

Hi all...
New to this forum but not new to owning Civic's......In the past I have owned:
'89 Civic hatch base (bought new)
'92 Civic CX (bought new)
'02 Civic DX
'06 RSX
'03 Civic SI EP3

Just bought my latest Honda.....
2002 Civic EX Sedan (Blue). Paid $1000 for it. I bought it from one of my employees (I am a manager of a bank) who decided to move from Arizona back to live with her parents in Ohio. She was afraid to drive it all the way back to Ohio due to the excessive mileage....172k. A few days before she left I asked her what she was going to do with the car and she said...."I'll probably just take it to the dealer".....
Anyways, I told her I would give her $1000 bucks for it - and she said SURE!!!

Like I said, the car has 172,000 miles on it. She had the local honda dealer put in a new transmission this past summer (automatic), so I figure that should be good for at least another 100k miles. The car runs perfect.....PURRS like a kitten!! It needs a little body work: a new front left fender, along with a new front bumper cover. The rest of the car / paint is in great shape. The car was FILTHY dirty when I bought it. Took me two whole days to polish/wax the exterior and clean/detail the interior. I have an estimate of about $750 to fix the body work (me furnishing the parts - fender, bumper cover, new headlights, chrome trim, fender liner). It also needed new tires and hubcaps. I bought a set of Sumitomo tires for $230 online and a set of new OEM honda wheel covers for $70. The interior is in excellent shape with the exception of the two front door panel inserts.....the fabric is starting to fall off.

Anyways.....kinda fun to working on my latest project. I figure I will have $2500 to $2750 into the car when done, and it will be in excellent shape.....perfect for a daily driver. I do need to check into having the timing belt & water pump changed though....not sure how long it has been or if has ever been changed.

congrats on getting the new civic. I notice you said that your fabric on your door panels is starting to fall off. that is the case with my car too. I only got my 01 civc back in october 2010 and i looked at at least 8 7th gen civics (2001-2005) and almost all of them had some fabric of the door panels falling off haha. I want to fix mine soon but it is winter here and i do not have a garage to let the car air out and do it inside so i will have to wait till the spring/summer.
