Wheel Strut Problem??

I was trying to get my one of my rims off to change the brakes and one of the lugs wouldn't come off. When i finally said screw it and tried to tighten it up, it wouldn't tighten. Its stuck about halfway. anyone know how it may of happened? How can i fix it and is it safe to drive with just the 3 lugs??

Re: Wheel Strut Problem??

It probably got cross threaded when it was put on. You have to cut/drill it off and change the wheel stud and the lugnut. I would not drive with just 3 lugs on there.

Re: Wheel Strut Problem??

but you will not be able to change pads, rotate tires, not even change tires if it gets flat, so solve that as soon as possible.
And yes, you will need to destroy the studs to take them out. I did have that from a shop, and they did not want to take responsibility. took me 2 days to get it out... hope you get in less...

Re: Wheel Strut Problem??

Just keep torquing the lug until the stud snaps then you can get the tire off, remove the hub and bang the stud out. Rent a FWD hub puller from Autozone.
