7 year old, low milage

I have an '03 Civic, purchased in fall of '09 with approx 52000 km. on it. It is in excellent condition overall but I am wondering about timing belt condition. Would it be wise to replace on the age factor alone? By the way, thanks to all for all the great information on the site, particularly the DIY info.

Any particular reason? (other than visible wear or it snapping)

Ah, times like this make me want the Pontiac w/timing chain back. Ran 250K in 4 years in that thing before I sold it.

Gearbox, thanks for the reply. I'll run it for a couple of years yet.

Honda recomends a new belt every 60k. I ran my old 02 113k and didnt change it once and the car was fine.

I ran mine up to 140,000 miles without any problem before getting the timing belt replaced.

you can plan for it when you do before the time.
after the scheduled time, it could happen anytime, meaning it could go much longer also, but you will not like it if it ever happens when you driving.
