Catback problems
Catback problems
I bought this catback for my 02 civic and i brought it to some muffler shops and some are telling me it won't fit and some say i need headers but the guy said i bought it from it should bolt straight on no probs, what you guys think?
Re: Catback problems
It should bolt right up. Muffler shops are stupid, I had a buddy that got a muffler and the inlet was bigger than the stock pipe and they said it couldnt be done lol and they said it didnt have any hangers so it wouldnt hang up lol idiots.
But ya should just bolt up. Do it yourself its easy. Just jack your car up on stands and get under there and take it out and put it in. Make sure you got some PB blaster you will need it.

Re: Catback problems
I think, and correct me if I'm wrong. All models but EX and SI have one piece manifold/catalytic converters, and EX's are two piece. SO... If you don't have an EX, and if the exhaust comes with a catalytic converter built in (which it looks like it does), it won't bolt right in. If you do have an EX, it should. If you have an LX or whatever you might need a new manifold.
Re: Catback problems
what is your vehicle model?
and tbohar, thats exactly correct.
Re: Catback problems
look in the engine bay at the block and an ex will say d17a2 and lx is d17a1. or look at the engine and look for the vtec solenoid on the head. and if you have one its an ex.
found a pic of the vtec solenoid

Re: Catback problems
yes, your car is an ex then. that system will bolt directly to your vehicle without any problems at all. whoever is telling you that it will not work is a retard.
you can see that the whole catback system you have has 2 bolt flanges. they all bolt to each other connecting all the piping you see in the picture. the very bottom pipe in the picture has a triangular 3 bolt flange. that 3 bolt flange is what connects to your downpipe.
engine ---> header ---> downpipe (has 3 bolt flange) ---> catback system (begins with a 3 bolt flange that connects to your downpipe).

Uhmmm.. guys, the original poster has not posted since the original post. ExistEvolution was just asking how to tell if his car was an EX or an LX. We still don't know if the original poster has an LX or an EX.
