Is It Possible To Lower Without Buying Suspension In The Future?

I'm interested in lowering the car, but I'd only do it if all I had to buy was springs. I don't have money for struts, shocks, etc., and don't want to think about buying them in the future. I read all the time that people are blowing their struts and I don't want that to happen to me. 2 inch drop will be fine. Another huge factor is the exhaust. A friend of mine told me not to lower, because he lost his exhaust like that. I have that new Magnaflow catback, and with every bump I go over, I hear a noise of something hitting. I even hear it going down my driveway sometimes. There is about 2 inches from the bottom of the screw that holds the pipe together and the ground . I don't see how so many people can lower like that and not destroy their exhausts.

i was thinkin about going with the eibach pro-kit. the drop isn't too low so you probably wouldn't have to worry about shock and stuff. most ppl that blow they're struts have sportlines or drops lower than the pro kit

I'm not trying to spend too much on springs either, I need to save for the future and I've already put a whole lot of my money into the car. I was thinking some budget springs like Progress, Sprint, or Goldline. Don't know how good they are though, because everyone on this site either has ground controls, Eibach, or those crapppppppy Matrix Coilovers .

If you are already dragging your pipes, then maybe you don''t want to lower at all. There's lots of other things you can do for making your car handle or look good.

It wouldn't be a good idea to drop 2 inches if you're not willing to replace your struts. The factory struts will not be able to handle the lowered ride, and it will only be a matter of time before they give. Also, just my $0.02 on anything you buy for your car - as a general rule of thumb, you get what you pay for (this applies especially for suspension components). Of course, this doesn't mean to just go out and buy the most expensive thing on the market, but generally the higher quality springs and struts will cost a bit more than the cheap/poor stuff. Better to wait until you have the money and buy good parts in the future than settle for half-baked components now.

When your struts blow, people will definitely see your car bouncing up and down like a go-cart when it hits a pothole. In addition, they will hear the passengers in the car cursing as they hit their heads on the ceiling when you cross over some road reflectors.

But seriously, blown struts not only make for a crappy ride, but are extremely unsafe to drive on as well.
