trunk lever broke?

ok so my gas/trunk lever only works for gas now. i can only push it down and i cant pull it up to unlock my trunk so i have to unlock my trunk with my key everytime and its getting annoying but idk whats wrong. the trunk isnt locked from the inside. i checked and ive tried locking it and unlocking it to see if that was the problem. but im just wondering what could it possibly be.

Re: trunk lever broke?

Check out the cable make sure its not getting stuck, or not attached at all. Does the handle feel loose or hard to pull?

Re: trunk lever broke?

its actually really hard to pull. feels like its locked but its unlocked. so maybe the cable is stuck.

Cable is stuck. Check the trunk latch and make sure it is moving.

Re: trunk lever broke?

have someone pull the lever while you watch the trunk latch (with the trunk open). see if the cable is doing anything, and if its attached properly. do you have aftermarket alarm? if you do, its prolly worth buying the 2001 accord motorized trunk latch popper and put that in. then you wont have to worry about the cable.

Re: trunk lever broke?

I had the same problem. The key wasn't turning the unlocking mechanism inside the car. That little cover over the lock inside the car pops on and off. Take it off and see if the key is actually doing anything and you may have to use a tool to turn it manually. If it's not the cable then check that. Its really easy, and you can just snap the cover back on when you're done.

Re: trunk lever broke?

fdf would not effect the trunks operation.

You can gently and evenly pry the lock cylinder straight up and it will come out. You can work the lock/unlock mech down inside manually to see if it makes any change.

Do you still get the click feel/noise when using the key to lock ??

Re: trunk lever broke?

i did check that but i never popped off the cover to see if the locking pin was actually moving and it was stuck on lock but the key still turned the lock from lock to unlock easily but the pin wasnt moving with the lock anymore. so i had to pop off the cover and take a screwdriver and manually turn it from lock to unlock without the key
