I just purchased a CLEAN 04 hatch last monday. LOVE IT ALREADY! And woke up this lovely morning to find out its has had its windshield smashed with a hammer, over some dispute with my girlfriends brother that I had nothing to do with. Anyway the LIL bastards that our wishing death upon them hit the black trim piece at the very bottom of the windshield that the wipers are connected to. check ebay, that black plastic is just a cowel cover. windshield is maybe only $150-200 to replace, usually insurance will pay for it. the black plastic prolly have to get from dealer or junkyard.

Hey that piece is called a cowl, they are not that bad in price i would get one out of a junk yard... I just shopped this windshield for you on my site $283.42 at accurate auto glass of america llc ... pretty good deal you can go to windhshield quote web site and get a quote and submit it online.. They can install the cowl for you if you hav it, as they take it off when replacing the windshield.
