my rear window and small back seat windows are 5% (limo tint, 4 shades)
and my driver and passenger door windows are 35% (2 shades) and i think it looks mint.

it usually goes:
5% - 1 shade
20% - 2 shades
35% - 3 shades
50 % - 4 shades (limo)

i paid 180 for everything, but i know the guy. i would say typically it goes for about 250 for the full job. if youre only doing the back windows, probably around 180ish.

2002 civic EX 35% all around except front window. $250, tint is now 5 yrs old. small bubbles and peels here and there as expected, but overall good condition. they used Llumar tint. and night driving is no problem.

5% is the darkest (limo tint)
30% dark
35% medium etc
The percentage coresponds to the amount of light that is allowed to enter the window , the lower the percentage the darker the tint

I have 5% in back and 30% in front, oh and paid around 150

the 35% on gearbox's ride looks clean..but i live in south cal and the sun does murder while youre driving but then again 5 is illegal in cali is it not?..

most states anything is legal on the rear windows. front windows driver/pass side is illegal in many states including CA. in NV its legal 35% for the fronts.

yeah i think between 20 and 35% seems just about right..im looking around $120 to 150 bucks...how long do they take to apply the tint anyways?..(professionally)

if youre going to do all 5 windows i would suggest not going darker than 35% on the fronts, the backs can be whatever. i say that because my fronts are 35 and at night its difficult to see. if im in a parking lot, or when backing up into a parking spot, my windows have to be completely down because its hard to see through them or at your mirrors...and thats with 35. i would hate to even attempt night time with 20 on the fronts.

This is my 2002 Honda DX (de-badged). I have 20% all t'he way around with a tint strip on the windshield. I'm getting ready to change the front windows to 35% because i keep getting pulled over. I know it sucks but its gotta be done.

I definitely agree with unTuned - I have 5% rear/back/windshield strip with 35% on my doors. Night time can be a bitch, don't know how many times I've had to crack my door when I'm backing up.. Don't get me wrong, the look is killer but visibilty is just a little important haha. I love my tint setup, and there is no way I'll ever go darker..

Also, make sure you ask what kind of tint they will be using. My local guy uses Sungard, and I've had really good results with this brand on two cars. Llumar is supposed to be very good, but I hear it's quite expensive. At any rate, just make sure you aren't shelling out $200 bucks for some Gila from AutoZone

yeah mine is 5% back ones and 35% front ones....had mirror tint when i bought the car...then took it to the local tint shop and had him remove the mirrow tint and put on black ones....total cost was 330....he told me it would take 3 hours or longer...so i drope it off in the morning and picked it up after school...

yeah....i do like those mirror tint but in my area cops will pull you over if you have mirror tint....i like them lol when the sun hits your window bam cant see from the outside lol...

well on the other hand (maybe its just me that has noticed this) but with black tint, get even the slightest moisture on it like some light rain or snow, and you cant see into it either. its weird.

paid 60 bucks for the tint from autozone(Gila brand) and installed it myself

I say good move on the tint bro, I think the black makes your ride look cleaner, and a bit meaner

I dunno, I've got this thing about contrasting colors.. I like the black tint on that goldish color better, but my bud has a black vic w/ mirror that looks pretty sick.
