im not completley familiar with the lx hu though, is it just am/fm radio? or is it a cd player as well?
the ex ones are radio and cd player, and even they dont have rcas. im about to go out to the garage, ill look at my stock just to be sure.

oh it plays cassettes too? hmm mines only radio and cd, but i still highly doubt its any different. i dont see why there would be hookups on the back simply for the reason they added cassette in. anyway i took a picture of the front and back and you can compare to see how similiar to yours it is, and the back shows the back. the hole on the right is for the antenna, the square area is for the big factory harness. hope this helps you out.

but i am going to install an Alpine CDA-9805.
any recommendations on something cheap ($20 or so) i can buy so that i can hook up my ipod?
the CDA-9805 has RCA inputs, no aux inputs/outputs....
hmm well it depends. im wondering if that stereo youre getting has a usb port on it. you can get a usb to ipod connecting wire, and that would work. other than that you would need an auxilary port which youre saying it doesnt have. may i ask what your price range is or what you are going to be paying for that head unit.
i totally love my pioneer deck and it was around 200 in store. i got it from a guy on ebay for 75$ shipped to canada. it actually included a wire in the package that connects to the back of the deck and hooks directly into your ipod.

so i need an auxiliary port? i cant do anything via the RCA?
it does have an interface hook up tho...i believe.
Use the interface hookup. It is WAY safer than using an AUX port anyway. Just go to BBUY or FSHOP and see if they can get you a cable for it. It might be a bit more expensive though.
