alright, im new here and figured it would be the best place to ask. i have a spare d17 for my 02 ex, i'm gonna go turbo but cant find anywhere to buy the internals. im not lookin to go super crazy on power, would like to stay around 250hp, ive seen on other sites where people claim more but they dont list what parts they are runnin. not intrested in a k20 swap. thanks

Re: turbo build

Well, for 250 hp, you should either lower your goals and stick with a stock block or raise your goals and go ahead with the built block. A built block is good for 300 easily if not more. 200 hp is not too lofty of a goal on a stock motor, possibly 250 with some head work.

Re: turbo build

250whp and kpro is easy, just replace the stock rod bolts with ARPs.

Re: turbo build

the best place to get the internals are from dezod.com they sele good quality parts. if your are looking for 250 at the crank, you are defenitly need to invest on your motor or lower your current goal if you want a good reliable engine. if my calculation are right in order to achive 250 at the crank you need higher than 10 psi of boost and with a compretion ratio of 9.5 it would be a bad idea. i suggest to invest in some wiseco piston that would lower the conpretion ratio of the car and then ensure it with ARPs stods.

Re: turbo build

Have you ever done a turbo build? 250 is perfectly attainable without tearing too far into the motor. The stock bottom end will be fine for 250 pending it is in good health before boost. The stock cam however seems to run out at about 225 hp. A cam, ARP headstuds and rod bolts along with k-pro should be more than capable of 250 hp.

Re: turbo build

^^ Jonathan speaks the truth.

FYI... I ran 260 to the wheels on a stock bottom-end, PnP head, Stage 2 Crower cam and a piggyback.

Re: turbo build

Re: turbo build

The stock block can handle it... IF it is in good condition to start with, and there is nothing wrong with playing it safe. Do a compression and leak down test, if everything checks out, boost away.
