My Summer Project
My Summer Project
I am lucky enough to work at Radioshack, where throughout the spring we had 0 customers so I was able to install my sound system while I was on the clock. Of course I made very little money because we work on commission. Sales seem to already be picking up so I am beginning to plan my summer project. I would like to get some ideas and recommendations.
All the stereo equipment added about 200lbs to my weight, essentially cutting my LX HP to 40hp LOL.
- Install 120Amp Alternator (Purchased)
- Install K&N Cold Air Intake (Anyone looking to sell)
- Install a nice (non coffee can) exhaust (Need recommendations)
- Install red cathodes under dash
- Replace tires
- Buy HFP 15" or 16"s (Anyone Selling?)
- Replace my bumper (If I find one cheap enough)

Re: My Summer Project
well any replacement will delete the cat and you wont pass smog. only one ive heard good about is kamikaze. i think thats the only brand that even makes lx header.
Re: My Summer Project
As far as the LX header goes I bought an OBX off ebay (this does delete your cat). Another option is to convert to an complete EX system that will allow you to use a high flow cat(and stay legal) here is a link to a thread about this subject https://www.civicforums.com/forums/7...haust-faq.html
On the Exhaust side I just bought a GReddy system it is designed for the LX and i absolutely LOVE it...

Re: My Summer Project
i've been running the kamikaze header ever since it first came out for our cars (lx models) i like it, it's also my first header ever but i haven't had any problems at all, and like DRTUNE said about the OBX deleting your cat, its the same with kamikaze. its the same with any lx header, the cat was build into our stock header...and on that note, anyone know why it's like that for the lx and not the ex? just curious.
Re: My Summer Project
I definitely want to keep my cat. So let me get this straight, any EX (OEM/aftermarket) header will fit my engine, I just have to change my exhaust to an EX design?

Re: My Summer Project
yeah the ex header bolts right up to the head, but you need the ex downpipe, cat, and catback to make it work. the catback you can buy an aftermarket ex version tho and it will work fine. same goes for header. the only oem ex parts you need are downpipe and cat, and you have to extend the oxygen sensors.
Re: My Summer Project
gearbox is right on but when swapping to the EX system dont forget about the EX sway bar... LOL on one of my many exhaust systems i swapped to an EX set up and did not know to do anything about the sway bar... the EX down pipe is straight where the LX has a little bend in it... i was able to make it fit by using a sawzall and welder...
Heres a down pipe with high flow cat Random Technology
imo if you go through the fun of converting over to a complete EX system the high flow down pipe/converter is a must have...
extending the o2 sensor harnesses is pretty easy... i bought "universal" sensors(the once for your app but without the honda connectors) i also picked up some heat shrink tubing(2 sizes small for the connections and a little bigger for bundling the 4 wires together) and some extra wire... then soldered, shrunk and zip tied... oh and in my case i only had to extend the wires on the second sensor but that may very on which header you get...

Damn, didn't see the reply quick enough.
My $35 Typhoon was shipped should be here in a few days.
120AMP Alternator installed, fixed a little light blinks, but my speaker squeal is still there, so if anyone finds a good deal on some NGK spark plugs let me know, that will be my next test.
