Re: Audio(Subwoofer) Question
1000 bucks is a bit crazy...im looking just for a little extra something for my little civic lol. I also have our economy in the back of my mind with the value of the dollar decreasing almost every week.
Re: Audio(Subwoofer) Question
dude you're fine with getting a Sony Xplode 1000w dual channel amp at Wal Mart.
if you're just trying to get some bump in the trunk then give your sub the power it craves while saving money.
wal-mart will also sell a "subwoofer and amp" install kit for like 80 bucks...pretty good deal comes with 4gauge power wire and a 500k capacitor so it holds enough juice out of your battery to power the sub and give you the sound you want.

Re: Audio(Subwoofer) Question
please for the love of god don't waste your money on a sony amp there complete garbage .there are plenty of good quality amps that are cheap.keenwood,alpine.mtx,rockford fosgate ect ect.
Re: Audio(Subwoofer) Question
whaaaaaaaat that is ridonkulous!
i've used a sony xplod amp myself for 2 years and its put out PLENTY of power to my 2x kenwood 12's (each sub is capable of 1200watts) and i never had a problem with it. alot of my friends have too! no complaints on my side from sony!
if you want complete garbage then buy the "dual" brand or "insignia" from best buy.

Re: Audio(Subwoofer) Question
Look up how much RMS power the sub wants and match an amp to that. You are better off going with a name brand. No name amps may say 1000w and might be pushing 200. I've got a Alpine monoblock that pushes 2 memphis 12's in a sealed box. The bass is all I'll ever need, with the ability to make more if I feel like it. Check your head units RCA output. The higher the volts, the better sound you will have. I have an eclipse head unit and it seems to do pretty good.

Look in the for sale section, I am currently selling my amp that I was using with the Type R. You can decided if that is the amp you want. I would highly recommend the same amp as I was using even if you dont get it from me (mines in the process of being sold but cash speaks
). Re: Audio(Subwoofer) Question
Whoops nevermind you have the 4 ohm sub. Your rms is 300. My amp would pound that thing lol. I would recommend a Alpine MRP-M450. You could use a more powerful amp if you turned the rms down. My amp could push two of your subs lol.
Re: Audio(Subwoofer) Question
I'm running two Alpine Type R's on two Kicker zx300.1s and they do the job. The amps are around $300 new, but great quality. I think they're certified for 340watts rms or something like that.
The Type-R's are great though, I've had them for almost a year and had no issues what so ever. Just lots and lots of bass.
If you really want quality sound, you may want to start looking at a 4 channel amp and half decent speakers for the front and rear.. I ran two 12" type r subs, and they completely overpowered my 15wattsx4 rms deck, haha.

hahahaha!Well, I'm running a Kenwood KAC-7204 amp to my JL Audio 10W7 and it sounds great. I'd get the 500/1 monoblock from JL Audio, but I don't have the money right now.
