Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
yea as much as a bitch that it is the bodywork should be done right. i mean like sand it down and everything. it sucks to do but its worth it in the long run when everything looks brand new again, esp if you do it yourself (if you know how), its so fullfilling to see work you do come out awesome
Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
uh oh....better get MAACO!
time is money my friend, and as fullfilling as it would be to do the work yourself i say leave it to the pros of autobody repair to do it...and they're pretty cheap.

yeah you really need a whole new paintjob to be honest. the only one that will come out is the first pic with some meguiars scratch-x. the window sill is not painted, its the rubber that is falling off the metal. need a new piece. and a new fender.

Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
try the touch up paint first for the black spots, maybe for now it will come out okay. spray paint will be a mess.
Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
I agree with gearbox, if you want it to look good get it done right, i know it sucks to be on a tight budget but i would rather see my car look good then all botched up.
Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
I agree with everyone as far as the Maaco crap. The only one you can fix is the front bumper. But if you buff it out and touch up the other spots. It will do until you get the money to get it done right. You may be able to push some of the dent out by hand. Just be very careful. Most newer cars have the swirls in them. They can be removed by wet sanding. You chould be fine when using a buffer on the car, just don't leave it in one place too long. Be very careful on plastic pieces such as the bumper. My choice of body man burned my clearcoat almost instantly. Ur body does need some work, but I would wait till you got all the lips and kits or whatever and get it all done at once.

Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
nothing wront with maaco, if you do the prep and priming yourself. all they do is spray it. theyre not gonna spend 5 days prepping your car for a $250 paintjob obviously. if you want that goto a normal paint shop and pay $6k. otherwise the paint will last forever if you take care of it by waxing every so often.
Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
I could be wrong, but to the best of my knowledge, Maaco does not do clearcoats. If they do, not for $250 bucks. Even if you do all the prep work urself, there needs to be several base coats and clear coats for a paintjob that is worth a crap. Look to spend at least 2 grand on paint job and body work. That could be the difference between a high dollar ricer or a jaw dropping show car. Just my 2 cents.
Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
I would get the stock car looking good before I bought anything to put on it. Otherwise you look like an idiot cuising around with body mods and dents/scratches. Just my opinion though.
Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
wow thank you gearbox...
everyone has the big misconception that "Maaco" is a crappy place to get ur car fixed up at.
it's not.
again, if u get their cheapest paint (which a majority of people do because they would rather see their car look sh*tty multiple times instead of doing it right ONCE) Maaco is NOT going to give you a good looking finish...and NEITHER will any regular autobody shop.
if you want your car to look good and want the inner fullfillment of doing something for yourself...then grab a sand blaster or some sand paper and sand the areas down that need to be fixed on your car and do the primering yourself. do the prep work. spend all the time you want on it. it cheap and in the long run you will know its done right and save yourself at least 200 bucks. there are plenty of DIY's on prepping a car.
when it comes to autobody...95% of the paintjob depends on the prep work...the other measly 5% goes with the quality of paint and the sprayer. a retarded monkey could spray your car evenly.
..and yes Maaco does clearcoats as well. their cheapest "ambassador" package (got my whole car done one time for 800 bucks a long time ago) has an "integrated" clear coat...meaning they mix all the crap in together and spray it. the higher packages come with individual clear coats depending on how many you want.
the majority of people that go to places like maaco all have the same mentality and they spread it to everyone else like a virus.
"dawg i really dont got any money and i wanna fix mah ryce cah up reel gudz!! mebbe if i go to maaco dey can paint it fo like reel cheep!!"
*gives guy 500 bucks for paint + prep*
"dood mah caw luks koo but its just a sh**y paynt job so im not worried bout it"
*guy doesn't wax or wash car for months letting paint oxidize, rust, and develop orange peel and flake off then tells all friends and family maaco sucks*

Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
Very nice. I wasn't meaning to down Maaco as bad as it sounds. They just advertise the cheapest paintjobs to get people in the doors and then try to talk them up to a better paint job. I believe that they are capable of making a car look tremendous. But not any more or less so than Joe Boy BIlly Bob down the street. (Well, maybe a little better than him). But only if you are willing to fork out the dough. I also reccomend doing as much prep as possible urself. If you do that good enough, you may be able to spray it. Then doing proper finishing is easy but time consuming. I would look extra close at Maaco, they are like a franchise and there may be an excellent on in part A of town, and a garbage one in part B of town.

Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
oh yeah, im not recommending you get the cheapest paint without any clearcoat. thats silly to even waste money on it.
Re: Help Me Fix My Car !!!!
yeah its easy to tell when someone cuts corners on autobody work.
back home in dallas i met up with a friend of a friend who was convinced he had a "stage 3 paint job". it was so blan you couldn't even see yourself in the reflection.
and yes arnold you are absolutely right. if you pay attention to some of their franchises i have heard horror stories about some of their work before in different cities / states/ etc. if you go inside the store you should always ask the quoter what kind of certification they have as far as their establishment.
just like automechanics get ASE certified to work on vehicles there is also an autobody liscense (forgot what its called) that shows you that the franchise or establishment you are working with actually knows what the f*(( they're doing.
a paint job without a clearcoat = a sandwich without bread
