Driver Side door does not lock with remote

I tried searching but the search function is lagging alot. I have an 02 civic EX 2dr. Well my driver side door does not want to lock or unlock with the use of the remote. The lights blink but there is no complementary honk also when I lock it. I was thinking it could be a fuse but I could not find any fuses in my owners manual that pertain to this function. I already replaced the battery in the remote so thats not the problem... any suggestions?

Re: Driver Side door does not lock with remote

its the door lock actuator, should cost you about 33$ from the stealership. ive also got an 02 em2 and i had the same problem. if you want to fix it yourself, all you need to do is take the door panel off and toward the back end of the door, the lock assembly is held in by the 3 large phillips screws in the door itself and 3 metal rods that work the door handles. its pretty simple to fix, just keep track of all the parts on don't come out with any extra when you're done.

Re: Driver Side door does not lock with remote

well first of all, do the locks work if you press the switch on the door? if yes, then your remote needs to be reprogrammed by honda dealer. if none of the two doors work, then yeah its prolly the actuator. do you hear any motor sound when you lock them when inside the car, using the driver side switch?

Re: Driver Side door does not lock with remote

The switch inside will only lock the passenger side the driver side either stays locked or unlocked so i always have to use my key or do it manaully for the driver side. I dont hear any noise when i use the driver side switch so maybe it is the actuator

Re: Driver Side door does not lock with remote

it is your driver side actuator. i have the exact same problem right now. my driver side door wont lock or unlock. i have to unlock it with the key, then press the unlock button on the remote to unlock the passenger door for someone thats getting in my car (or flick the switch up). your passenger side will only unlock if your driver side is unlocked too, youll notice that. your passenger side also will not lock with the remote until youve manually locked your driver side with the key.

but yeah its the actuator assembly. im going to fix mine too when we get to + temperatures.

Re: Driver Side door does not lock with remote

so just out of the blue i called the actual honda dealer that my car was from asking for the price on the actuator assembly since i have this same problem and im going to fix it soon. he told me it is in stock and its $78.00.

i remember when gearbox directed me to majestic hondas site, and when we were looking at the diagram, they had two different parts to pick from. #32 and #56. one says right front and one says left front. youd think that they are driver/passenger sides, but we couldnt figure out which was which. what i dont understand between part 32 and 56 though, is that they both cost completely different prices. you can see here:

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...ry5=DOOR+LOCKS

part 32 is 30.61 and part 56 is 17.87.

no idea what the hell is with that, but i called them today and nobody answered so i left a message...and nobody called me back. ill try calling again tomorrow.

ill let you guys know which part is which and what it will cost with shipping.

Re: Driver Side door does not lock with remote

The dealer may be quoting you the entire latch assembly (hondaautomotive calls it the lock assembly designation 3 & 31) it contains the actuator.

Although the actuator is available separate and replaceable the factory manual only covers the replacement of the latch assembly as a complete unit.

R=Passenger side / L=Drivers side

Re: Driver Side door does not lock with remote

right on, thanks craig. i still actually have that link saved in my email when you sent it to me the last time. i never got around to getting the part. anyway, i just emailed him asking if thats the full assembly or just the actuator. ill see what he says. if its any cheaper ill get it from them instead of calling majestichonda.

do any of you know if majestic ships to canada?

Re: Driver Side door does not lock with remote

alright so i emailed the local dealer and he replied with its 76.98 for just the actuator assembly itself...which is pretty outrageous.

so i contacted majestichonda and the guy said they will not ship to canada which is also a joke. no idea what ill do here. i might just have to go pay the 80 for it from the dealership.

Re: Driver Side door does not lock with remote

i would rather not pay 80+ for it at the local dealership. apparently majestichonda wont ship it to me, even though it says on their website they will ship internationally with fedex.

does anyone know where i can order a driverside doorlock actuator assembly that will ship to canada?
