i installed my new struts and springs tonight (tokico blues & neuspeed sports), in only didi the fronts then it got too dark, but anyways, when i turn my wheel it makes loud noises like something is loose? all the bolts are tight, but it only makes the noises when turn while i'm stopped or if i'm turning while going slow. any ideas? thanks.

Was the spring seated correctly on the strut perch?

Re: help with noises after strut install...

well, take a break or a day or 2 and do it agian. you shouldn't need to completely undo it, just pop the wheel off and if you can see where the spring and perch meet, there should be a spiral kind of indent in it, and thats where the end of the spring goes.

When I reassembled the struts on my car (mz3) I had the same thing happen, and I had to redo the one side because I put it in wrong. Not a huge deal if thats what it is. It could be something else though but thats my .02

i put the end of the spring on the bottom right up against the spot where it's supposed to stop and i put the top into the same indention that the stock spring left, hell i might just take it to a shop and tell them to figure it out.

I have the same noise on my front springs....when i turn the wheel...sounds like a popping noise....but i never checked it out....i been driving like that for 6 months now and havent had any problems. But im pretty sure that it has something to do with lining up those stupid arrows

Re: help with noises after strut install...

I actually stopped being lazy and checked the noise out on my car... When i turned the wheel my springs were rubbing against the plastic cover under the fender. so what i did was cut a big chunk of that plastic off so that it wont rub with the springs....wow after 6 months i finnaly figured it out. BUT i also remember that when i DIY my springs i accidentally messed up one the lca joints...therefore there still remains a slight popping noise...which is from the lca joint.....but it is not as loud anymore because springs arent rubbing against that plastic cover anymore... make sure you DOUBLE check your lca joints....look for any grease leaking from the boot.
