Amsoil transmission oil
Amsoil transmission oil
Hi all. You guys were very helpful with the transmission questions I asked regarding removing it. I have one final question and I'll be out of your hair
. I've read a few conflicting things, and I've spent about an hour searching so far. Remember this is my dads daily driver, we're putting a fresh transmission in it.
From the search, I know I dont want to use 10w30 unless an emergency. Other people recommend Redline MTL, which is a 70w-80 I believe. I have not had good experiences with redline and would like to go another route. A place nearby sells Amsoil, which I personally like, but they have 2 different oils that are close to both of the other suggested oils.
Basically, should I get the 5w-30 synchromesh, or the Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90?
Thanks again

Re: Amsoil transmission oil
These transmissions seem to have issues, and I dont want to point fingers at the fluid (or lack of keeping up with mainteance), and I'm sure oil from a honda dealer is probably more expensive than amsoil anyways. I've personally used it in my BMW's tranny and it made a huge difference. Whatever we go with, I'm going to recommend we flush it more often to lessen the chance of it happening again.
Which weight is recommended, the 5-30, or 75w-90?

Re: Amsoil transmission oil
I ran a NON OEM Trans fluid in my auto once. It resulted in me going to Honda to get a tranny flush 2 weeks later. I suggest OEM Honda Fluid Nothing else. It is not expensive and you will have the piece of mind knowing you have the Propper fluid in the trans.
Re: Amsoil transmission oil
I went with the 5w-30 amsoil
