Turning not as tight as before?
Turning not as tight as before?
Hey what's up guys?
So I drove my GF's civic yesterday, it's an 06(lx) I believe, and the turning seems so much tighter than my car (2001 coupe EX/Si). When I say tighter, I mean I did a U turn with her car and it cleared it easily. With my car, I have to go so slow because I'm about to hit the curb. (half wheel turn on both cars, same location and speed).
Anyone know why this might be? Do you think it's my sway bar or something?
Her suspension is stock. My car has Tein spings and tokico blue's. No other suspension mods.
I remember when I first got my car, I was able to go into any parking spot from almost any angle, I miss those days

front control arm bushings are prolly torn. but you cant really compare different gens of civic. its a whole new car compared to 01-05 civics.
Re: Turning not as tight as before?
Sorry, I thought her car was 06. Her car is 05. I thought the new style came out in 07, didn't know it was that long already...
Damn I'm old haha.
What's the way to identify torn bushings? Other than little handling characteristics? Would there be a noise?

Re: Turning not as tight as before?
turning performance goes way down at higher speeds. you can get under the car and just look at them, pretty easy. if they look torn, there you go. next time get the energy suspension poly bushings, they will outlast the car. oem rubber barely makes it to 50k miles.
this is in the front of the car, the one i have on there now is the ES bushing. honda calls it the compliance bushing and it affects the alignment of the car if its worn out too.

Cool, thanks man. Contacted my mechanic and he's order Energy Suspension bushings for me now.
He said they squeak more, but hey, I guess it's worth it if it'll last double the amount of time than the previous.

Re: Turning not as tight as before?
the squeaking i only notice going up and down driveways or speedbumps. regular driving you wont hear anything. it should last forever.
