shift boot alternatives?

Hey guys I wanted to know if there was a different option to having a shift boot. I've seen automatic cars that have the hard plastic kinda shifting boot area. I'm not really explaining it well but I wanted something like this:

looking at the shift area its for an automatic of course but I have a manual and i wanted to know if there was something like that for manual users?

A guy on here years ago had an orange coupe. I can't think of his name, but he made a custom shift plate out of 1/4 inch metal that went along with the shift pattern. Like the old Ferrari's and Lambo's have. Check pics of like a mid-80's 328GTi to see what I'm talking about.

yes that is pretty much exactly what i'm looking for. I just wanted to know if it could be done and if anyone could help me out with the dimensions?

Id say make a templet out of card board make sure its a perfect fit and then transfer it to metal. Shouldn't be that hard after you make a jig to hold the metal in place while you cut it out. Use atleast 1/4 or even better diamond plate would be sick.

Looking for this?



Use billet aluminum, I think diamond plate would look terrible. Have a place cut it with a CNC machine and then have a welder make a bracket for you.

yes dex thats exactly what i'm looking for. Maybe not have the plate silver but I can always paint over it I suppose. I might get this started in the next month. I'll post up pics of the progress.
