coilovers..

okay i'm probably gonna get a lot of crap for this, but what's really the difference with some coilovers for 300-400 bucks and some you can get off of ebay or something for 30-60? i'm kind of on a tight budget with a kid coming in november, but what are some options?

Re: coilovers..

quality. ebay coilovers will not drop evenly, and the shock part will just blow in a few months lol. and they suck for adjusting. and the ride will be terrible. BIG difference. the cheapest "good" coilovers are prolly the tein basics for around $600-800. if youre on a tight budget, leave the suspension stock. it adds up real quick when you add it all up, including money for camber kit and alignment when everything is installed. i thought i would spend less doing a separate spring shock combo, but by the time i was done, it got really expensive.

used springs $100
used shocks $280
new camber kit $160
install $350
alignment $150

and thats using budget (but good: eibach and tokico) parts and maybe you can save some installing yourself but its alot of work and you may get stuck along the way.

Re: coilovers..

install isnt too bad if you have a lift and a spring compressor. (access to a shop). otherwise ya about 300 for install. thats a lot of money. if your just wanting the look of a drop get some megan springs. if you want the look and comfort go with tein basics like gear said. thats what im doin!

Re: coilovers..

and also, dont think about just getting springs put on. it will blow the stock shocks very fast and the ride will suck even more. and its the same labor to install just spring instead of both spring and shock. my advice is do it all together to save labor costs. so make sure you have all the hardware and camber kits going in the first time.
