Re: Power Steering Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I havent done this, but I know people have. One of them will pop up sooner or later. Speedfoos was telling me about the hybrid steering rack, I believe, that is electronic instead of powered by the crank. Worth checking out.

Re: Power Steering Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just pull the pump and rezzie and find the proper sized AN plugs for when you pull the feed and return lines off the steering knuckle there on the firewall. Follow the lines back to see where they hook in and remove them.

Alternatively you can just pull the pulley of your PS pump is you don't feel like plugging the lines. It will be harder to steer this way though.

Re: Power Steering Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just pulling the pump and rezzie off isn't bad once your used to it. That's exactly what I did. I'm most likely going to get rid of the lines sooner or later but it's been about 2 years now and I haven't. It feels weird as hell as soon as you do it but it's not hard to steer at all. I did it because I never had P/S before my vic and once I got the car it just didn't feel right, I felt like I was darting all over the place. Without the P/S the car feels like it's on rails. I can feel like I can "feel" the road 10x better and have a lot more control over the car. Plus it makes it harder to over/understeer on corners. If you do cap off the system let me know what size plugs you use!

Re: Power Steering Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i see what you guys are saying but if you do this you well be fighting the fuild that is in the rack and it well not be as smooth as if you just loop the rack so that the fuild can acutally flow so have any of you looped the rack not just pluged it?????????????????????????

Re: Power Steering Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

interesting. im think bout doing the same thing. but like lanevo7 said... do you loop the lines or plug them? and do you leave the fluid in the rack or drain it?

Re: Power Steering Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've also heard of looping, it would make sense that it would make it a little easier than just plugging but I dunno...
