Things that are currently bothering me

One is the Electronic Odometer. no, I am not doing 120km/h at 4500rpms. The car is shut off.

I did do a simple cluster swap and now it shows 150,000 kms. Now my car only has 120,000 kms. Damn. I lost 30,000 driving on the magical rainbow. Why coulden't Honda put the Odoemeter on the ECU instead of the cluster. just plug and play, BAM your old meters show up. Not to mention now it shows that it has been tampered with with the needles spiking up whenever the car is off.

Another is. well. My rims. "honda sport wheels?" wtf? Honda racing wheels? On a stock civic? and honestly who uses 14's anymore? I bought these with the car. I hate them. mannnnn, I just wanted stock rims.

Anyone have any Stock Honda Civic rims they are willing to give/trade?

Anyone?

The 14's have brand new tires on them!

(oh and I am broke so money is out of the question )

anyways, Thanks for listening to me whine/bitch/complain

I'd take it to Honda and make them fix the odometer, that's complete bullshit. I'd complain to Honda until they agreed to fix it for free.....now and every other time you feel like changing the cluster in the future.

Re: Things that are currently bothering me

You probably should have researched the instrument cluster issue a tad more before you swapped it. It sounds like, if your cluster is defaulting to some random position, that its broken. When it's not getting any power, the needles should rest at their "0" position.

Here's a diagnostic procedure you can try:

With the car off and the keys in the ignition,

1. Push and hold the trip-reset button
2. Turn the lighting switch on
3. Turn the ignition switch on within 5 seconds
4. Turn the lighting switch off, then on, then off again.
5. Within 5 seconds, release the trip/reset button, then push and release it 4 times repeatedly.

This will run a self-contained diagnostic procedure that will sweep all the gauges from stop to stop. They should stop at 0 at the end of the cycle. To repeat, simply press the rest button again. It will stay in this mode until you turn off the ignition.

Try this and let me know where it gets you. There's no "indication of tampering" wired into these gauges, it sounds like you've got a defective set or they were setup wrong.

Ah,
Thank you very much man. I figured it was some type of "tampering" mech. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Right now I just fixed that "5 speed grinding" tranny issue (Not fun).
I thank you so much again for the tips. Kudos.

Re: Things that are currently bothering me

needles should not be doing that. i swapped a new cluster and yes the mileage is 35k less than actual, but it works normal.
