Legit Custom D17 Supercharger??!!

I found these two links this morning and I began to wonder. I don't think it's a scam like those ebay hair dryers but I wonder about the gains. Any thoughts on this

Re: Legit Custom D17 Supercharger??!!
its very interesting to say the least. im not sure how well our electrical system would hold up to it thats for sure would definitely need a larger alternator. i dont like how they dont have any installed pics or dyno runs. It sounds like the system weights 50 pounds with all the compressor , battery all the wires and its personal radiator. I also really dont like how the guy sounds like an idiot and very unprofessional in the About us thing. it sounds like they are real and working but not designed by this guy. i also dont like how it looks like its a push button use only with all his talk about a NOS button. whats the point of all this hardware if you cant use it all the time. maybe i read it wrong but thats what it sounded like to me. o and the icing on the cake is the 45-60 day "waitlist." also if you search around do you find anyone else using them on the net or anywhere? i couldnt find anyone which makes me think this is a scam along with some of the previous things i have said.
It would be interesting to see what the systems could actually do if they exist and someone had the money to test it but i doubt anyone would do something like that.

I was at a local shop getting some work done and saw a guy with a '98 Coupe who had this installed. Actually, two of them one after the other.

He said it made quite a bit of difference in power. I was quoted $500 Canadian dollars for one. Check it out.

I dunno about that first one... but the second one made me feel ashamed by going to that website while sitting in the front row of this classroom.
Re: Legit Custom D17 Supercharger??!!
I just checked the full on speed website today...no updates since the last time I looked, which was the day before I opened this thread. I give the full on speed a version a 65/35 chance of being a legit and effective mod. And the super e-ram a 95/5 chance with its awesome 1.5 psi of RAM Air it supposedly generates.

I've heard of those. Those, or something like them, are useful in drag when you can hit the button as soon as the staging lights come up so you've got full boost by the time you launch, but they're not very useful for street driving. I didn't read through the entire thing, but it looks like they're using brushed motors.
I've put some thought into something like this, honestly. It'd have to be done right, and wouldn't be cheap. It'd need a computer to calculate what output was needed, factoring in spooling time, throttle position, speed, injector duty, etc. etc. It's more complicated than these guys make it seem, unless you're looking for something to just throw on your motor like a dry nitrous oxide injection kit.

Re: Legit Custom D17 Supercharger??!!
the eram is kinda dumb... only supposed to turn on when u floor it... doesnt really act like a "supercharger"
I think a slightly modified eram system would probably be better... assuming the eram is run by an AC motor, a variable frequency inverter could connect to that motor that would also be powered by an extra battery. A higher output alternator would be needed to charge 2 batteries. A pressure sensor would probably be needed to check throttle body pressure, which would be analyzed by a simple computer to either increase or decrease motor rpm by the inverter frequency. lastly, some type of cooling system would also have to be added to the motor, cuz it would be constantly running.
lots of modification for it to work like a real supercharger

^^^^^ HAHAHAHAHAHA.... Whats that guy going to do when he pulls up to a light? "Uhhh... hold on. I need to flip the switch under my hood to get some mad boost so I can beat you to the next light."
Re: Legit Custom D17 Supercharger??!!
I got curious, and did some research. A decent Husqvarna leaf-blower puts out 680 cfm (cubic feet per minute) at an unknown pressure. A quick google search showed a page that said a Garrett GT30 compressor would put out 670 cfm at 21 psi.
Interesting.
Interesting.

found on second page...
"However, even if a motor is around 90% efficient, it will produce some heat. This bit of heat does not in anyway affect the air being forced into the engine like tube or axial superchargers."
how is that even close to a true statement seeing as how the compressing of air itself induces an increase in it's ambient temperature?? simple physics at work people...

Re: Legit Custom D17 Supercharger??!!
Technically, It's simple chemistry. PV=nRT. With respect to volume, if the pressure increases, so will the temperature. It's obviously not a very well thought out system. It may work, yeah, but what you quoted just isn't true.
