Happend just recently I accelerated heavily to pass a truck on the hwy and bam the light came on ??? I havent noticed any dif in drive but its been about 100 miles since it happend and its still on. Should I just reset the battery to have it turn off and see if it comes back on or take it in to be fixed ?? I have heard of this happening before and the vehical is under warentee but its also my main means of transportation.

maybe you should figure out what it means? thats the whole idea of having a check engine light. and how do you know its emissions, could be a whole lot of things. goto an auto store and have them read the code.

I know because its not the check engine light its the emissions control malfunction light.

emmisons and engine light are one in the same. it's a little yellow engine outline.

somting else u can do is jump the BRN and BRN/YEL (pins 4 and 9 if i remimber corectly) wires in the OBD2 conector. this is just like the service check conector under the right hand dash of the EG's. your ABS, SRS, and check engine light will bink. count the blinks and u got your code. short = 1 long = 10 . oh and if it dosent blink and just stays on u got no codes

Just hope its not p0497, im having this issue with my civic, same parameters for when the light comes on 4k rpms or just hard driving, its Low purge flow, i have replaced every emissions valve, canister, solenoid... via warranty at my dealership and **** still comes on.

thanks guys good info. a friend of mine had a 03 and his light would come on and off randomly every so many miles but now has stayed off for the last 2 oil changes go figure on this darn thing.

Howzit, While in 1st and accelerating to about 3000-3200 rpm the CEL came on and the engine bogged and hesitated. With the CEL still on I tried it again and it did the same thing, rev to about 3000-3200+ the engine boggs and hesitates, with lots of shudering. Has anyone encountered this problem? The car revs fine while at a stop and in neutral. The CEL stays on all the time. Any help is greatly appreciated.

get the code checked at most auto stores.

Howzit got the code read my friend has a scanner and it faulted the cam position sensor. Fast fix, changed it out reset it and now its good to go.
