knock in engine heLp
knock in engine heLp
Got a problem guys. At start up, noticed a bad "jackhammer" sound coming from the engine block. It only does it until the engine warms up. The sound is not too loud but does concern me. It sounds like it is a piston knock. Any suggestions? Please help...Thanks!
Re: knock in engine heLp
How many miles do you have on the car? Does it only knock when there is a light load on the engine? (e.g. Slight acceleration, not at idle or hard accelerations). I had a crazy knock in my engine last month that started at about 3400rpm and on, only with light loads on engine. It started to get a little worse. I knew it wasn't valves, so I took it to my mechanic and we came to the conclusion that it was probably a rod bearing. He dropped the oil pan and sure enough, a bad bearing. Luckily I caught it before it damaged the journal on the crank.
Also last year my engine was ticking before it got warm, it was actually my timing belt about to go. These are 2 things I would suggest checking into.
