intake silicone coupling?
intake silicone coupling?
Ok, well i got my intake pipes, aem filter arrives tomorrow. The problem is, the silicone coupling, or pipe connectors that came with the intake is blue. I don't like the way it looks. I want to pick up some black couplings for the pipe. and also a black one for the small tube that connects the pipe to the head. not sure exactly what that one is for.
i need a black 2.5" diamater, about 2 inches long.
also a 5/8" diamater, about 6" to a foot in length.
I called two local auto parts stores, and they don't seem to carry them. Does anyone know where i could pick them up. It will cost me about 30 dollars to order them offline.
Also, would normal rubber work, or could the tempatures in the engine bay get to high and melt them.
thanks for the help!

That being said, normal rubber will work just fine for you car.
That hose that runs from the VC to the intake is simply a VC vent. It vents the hot, oily vapors from your cylinder head and dumps them into the intake charge. The benefit is that it gives you a more combustible intake charge, and is better for the environment. The drawback is that it heats up the intake charge.
IMO, go club a baby seal, kill a condor or two, stick a breather filter on the VC and plug the hole of the intake pipe. This way your intake charge stays cooler.

Re: intake silicone coupling?
thanks speedfoos.
I found less expensive coupling at http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/
and you can select the length/diamater. however, can you elaborate on the breather filter on the VC. Like what does it do more in depth. and also what are the benifits and negatives of doing what you said. also, how to go about doing it
