Help: Shifter Bushing Cracked!
Help: Shifter Bushing Cracked!
I have a 2001 Honda civic Ex Sedan. I started having this free play in my shifter in the forward and backward motion when in neutral. Opened the centre console and I found a bushing broken in many pieces. The bushing goes around a cylindrical rod that is part of the shift assembly. The bushing goes into the cable for the forward and aft lever and goes around the cylindrical rod. If I recall it should be white in colour, but it has now turned brownish. I hope my description is comprehensible. It seems no one sells this bushing. I can't recall if it is part of the shift cable end. Can anyone help me out here?

You have a picture? Did you check Majestic? (www.hondaautomotiveparts.com)
Which piece are we talking about here:

If needs be I'll sell you my stock shifter for $10 plus whatever it costs to ship it to you. Shouldn't be more than $20-25 total as long as you're in the states.

Part #5 seems to be a metal piece. The piece I refer to goes into the hole at the end of the shift cable. It should be a white plastic piece if I recall correctly. It could be part of the shift cable end.
Re: Help: Shifter Bushing Cracked!
if its what im thinking, ur gonna have to replace the whole shifter cable, is it the piece that the big u-clip clips onto to hold it onto the shifter?
Re: Help: Shifter Bushing Cracked!
Its basically the bushing in the "eye" of the control cable end. Just DIYED a cylinderical plastic piece I cut from a pen cap. Works for now with no more noise and freeplay. I think replacing the entire cable is not justifiable.
