hey guys so i'm back i finnally got my swap done but theres somethings i need to know but i can't seem to figure them out by myself so here they are .

why is my check engine light on ?

why sometimes when i start my car up and i go on first it feels like is gonna choke like if it had no gas ?

why is my SRS light on ?

how bad is it to use my lx exhust on my ex motor kuz thats what im using right now will it make any difference is this good or bad /how bad is it ?

do i need to reflash my ex ECU now that i'm done with the swap ?

how do i know that they gave me a vtec ECU or how can you tell if is an ex or an lx computer ?

am i supposossed to feel a big difference now that i have the vtec motor ?

when does the vtec start kicking in RPM wise ?

so heres what i'm running guys .2002 civic ex motor with 2002 lx tranny with stage 1 clutch and 2002 civic lx exhust yes yes im still using my lx **** so im trying to get some answers here guys i will really apreciate if you guys give me a hand thank ya'll.

LX to EX?
arent the motors the same in these models?
Si usually is the change in motors?

LX/EX/DX are all option difference related as Si was the performer package?

in canada it might be but not in the US... i would keep the lx tranny because the gears are longer... but thats just me and if you do change the tranny you wont see a difference..

okay....you speak of the tranny being a different gear ratio but...
the motors in the EX/LX/DX are all SOHC and 1.7L/1.8L or soem **** right?

01 -05 DX/LX are d17a1. EXs came with the d17a2. All sohc and 1.7 but the a2 has vtec.

so only difference is a more aggressive cam profile then....id have to say this would be the biggest waste of money swapping these engines all for the VTEC option?

wht not have just boosted it....or a different engine?
hell ....why not just have bought an EX in good shape?

yea but the dx/lx has longer gearing... the ex has shorter sportier gearing...i race my friend and he got an ex and he was shifting Way before i was... i dunno but my fourth gear goes up to around 120 and then i shift to 5th n im at 4000 rpms... my friend with the ex is at 7000 rpms at 140 in 5th gear....

well the bumping at start/low speeds is probably the result of that automatic ECU you got in a manual car.

i think you should swap to a manual ecu or hondata and ur problems shud be solved. i did a ex head swap but i kept the stock ecu and just got a the vafc2 vtec controller so it turns on when i want it to. and you can feel a difference!
